DADDY-O IS THE ANSWER IF YOU WANT A GREAT ALL-ROUND ALTO MOUTHPIECE

The Daddy-O alto mouthpiece, designed by Mark Sepinuck, offers exceptional versatility with a wide tonal range—from sweet and warm to modern and bright. Ideal for leading a contemporary big band section, it provides power, clarity, and punch without sacrificing classic alto vibes. This mouthpiece, suitable for players who like Bird, Stitt, Hodges, Desmond, Art Pepper, Lou Donaldson, Phil Woods, Cannonball, Charles McPherson, and Dick Oatts, strikes a balance between the Alto Madness and Showboat models. It delivers harmonic richness, allowing for dynamic playing from soft whispers to bold volumes. With more power than vintage models like Meyer Bros, Brilhart, Selmer, and Otto Link, it maintains the tradition and classic alto sound while offering a more satisfying and enjoyable playing experience.

STAFF REVIEW
It’s great to see 10M Fan expanding into alto mouthpiece manufacturing as it’s now possible to play with that trademark fat and full sound on alto as well as tenor. This piece for me has that real Phil Woods style tone, a lot of Meyer-like qualities in there for me. The bottom-end of the range is particularly full and broad. Within the whole sound is a built-in resistance that’s above medium for me, and I do like this except that I wouldn’t personally opt to go higher than a 6 as I believe that you have all the power needed at this level and pushing beyond this tip would create too much of a forced blow.
Overall I think this mouthpiece is excellent, and I found that the more time I spent with it the more I engaged with the different layers of tone that are available to you. Beyond its natural full-sounding starting point it can really sing with a strident and singing solo voice. - Jim - sax.co.uk
