Hinch 10 Year Sherry Cask Finish Irish Whiskey comes from Hinch Distillery in Ballynahinch, County Down, Northern Ireland, a modern distillery on the Killaney Lodge estate. This single malt is aged ten years in bourbon casks and then finished in sherry casks, and bottled at 43% ABV (86 proof). The decade in bourbon wood lays down honey, vanilla and orchard fruit; the sherry finish adds dried fruit, warm spice and a rounded sweetness with a touch of nut. The palate is smooth and layered, and the finish is long with sherry richness fading into gentle oak. It is a whiskey to sip neat, and a good match for after-dinner cheese or dark chocolate. This 750ml bottle is a strong value for an age-stated, sherry-finished Irish single malt.
